Great App Much Appreciated,
Is there any plans to make the switch off of the airplane mode auto as well
maybe with a setable timer to search for a signal

Autopilot should be able to do that. Go to Settings > Network settings > Return signal in Autopilot. Whatever time you set there will be the amount of time Autopilot will keep the phone in airplane mode. After that time expires, airplane mode will be turned off and your signal will be returned.

sorry i might have not explained myself properly, what i was wondering was whether autopilot could have added in a future update that rather than having to wait for the timer end and after that autopilot turns airplane mode off, it could be set to scan for a network signal and turn on the network immediately, the reason i ask is i’m regulary in and out of signal and unless i manually turn airplane mode off which i regulary forget i need to wait for the timer to switch airplane mode off which sometimes means that my phone is without network signal for manyl minutes,

Just also wanted to say that your app is the best one i tried and long may it live,

I see. Now I understand. Unfortunately, this cannot be done. In order for your phone to be able to check for your signal strength or to see if there is signal, the phone must be out of airplane mode. There is no way of doing this while the phone is in airplane mode. The only advice I can provide is to set the “Return signal” setting to a low number and have the “30 second post check” setting checked. That way, Autopilot will keep the phone in airplane mode for a short time and if there is still no signal after airplane mode is turned off, Autopilot will put it in airplane mode 30 seconds after that. That is how I have it set to and it works for me. Hope it works!

Is there any chance to add feature so that autopilot checks for signal when the screen is turned on,

there seems to be a bug in that autopilot still lights up my menu and other keys even if the 30 seconds
signal check is off, they stay on till the screen would have timed out and turned off

I have some issues with the wifi feature of Autopilot on my Optimus V.

When it works, it’s amazing. It turns wifi off (and data on) when not in range, and data off and wifi on when in range. However, fairly regularly it’ll get “stuck” with wifi not being able to turn on at all. I’ll be in range of wifi, it will enable it, say it’s NOT in range, then disable it. Not abig deal, but even when I try to manually enable wifi, it turns on but never is able to connect. It will say “Scanning…”, then “Turning off…” then “Turning on…” then “Scanning again…” forever. Toggling wifi on and off in Autopilot or in wifi settings doesn’t help, the only thing I can do is reboot to fix it.

Thoughts?

Hey Brian,
I have encountered this problem before but with Bluetooth. This seems to happen when Wi-fi or Bluetooth are constantly turned on and off. Unfortunately, this seems to be an Android OS issue, so I’m unable to provide a permanent solution besides rebooting your phone. Some advice I can provide is to have the Wi-fi timeout and restart time in the settings to a higher interval. So instead of having it timeout after 2 minutes, have it time out after 5. Or instead of restarting your Wi-fi after 5 minutes, have it restart after 10 minutes. Hopefully, doing this won’t lock up your Wi-fi. I apologize if this has caused some inconvenience and I hope this solves your issue.

I got AutoPilot through the Amazon store and was having issues with it turning off the WiFi even when it was disabled. I see that you’ve fixed that in your July update, but that is not the version available on Amazon’s App Store. You may want to look into it.

Thanks for a great program!!

Hey Carol,
Thanks for the heads up. I am aware of this issue. For some reason, Amazon is not letting me update Autopilot. I have contacted them and I’m still waiting for a response. As soon as this issue gets resolved, I will be updating the Amazon Appstore version of Autopilot. Thanks for the support!

That’s great news. And if you ever want donations so I can be rid of ads….. ;-)

You HAVE to add a feature to turn airplane mode on when DATA connection is lost (or low). The newly released Droid Bionic has a real problem with keeping its data connection on, sometimes when it’s gone it never comes back and the only solution to fixing it is to turn airplane mode on and off real quick.

If your app could check the data connection and do this automatically, it would really be a great work around for 1,000′s of Bionic Owners.

Please add this!

That’s a great idea! My OG Droid does that once in a while and it can get pretty annoying. I’ll look into it and see what I can do!
Cheers!

I wanted to download your Autopilot app but I can’t find it in the Android Market. Can you please reupload it? :)

This app force closes a lot. Is there any particular reason why? I seem to get this message several times throughout the day–>”The Social Widget has stopped working.”

I’m going to need a little more information to be able to determine what the problem is.
Are you using the free version?
What model phone are you using?
What android version do you have?
When does this crash happen?
If you can, please report the crash so I can see exactly what’s happening.

Thanks!
